Intralogistics supplier Beumer is to deliver, install and commission a high-speed sortation system in private Iranian postal company Tipax’s new hub in Tehran.
Tipax is soon to become Iran’s first private postal operator and is waiting on a license from Iran’s Communications Regularity Authority. Tipax is participating at POST-EXPO this month and has said it is hoping to attract foreign investors.
Tipax decided to build the new hub due to the potential for economic growth, and high growth rate of the postal and logistics market in Iran. Beumer is to install its BS 25 Belt Tray Sorter, which has a throughput of 7,600 parcels per hour, to support the post’s growth plans.
Beumer says the cross-belt sorter will have two feeding lines for the automated transportation of shipments from ground floor to the basement, which warrants high unloading throughput. The two fully automated induction units are equipped with weighing scales to ensure revenue protection.
A high quality camera system will identify 1D and 2D barcodes at all five visible parcel sides. The system also features a selection of different chute types according to Tipax’s needs and the available space.
Tipax has invested in track and trace infrastructure for door-to-door deliveries of parcels. Shipments will be received in the distribution center directly from vans and trucks. In addition all working areas have been ergonomically designed to ensure the best working environment for the staff, an important consideration for Tipax.
The system is scheduled for operation in Q1 2018, marking Tipax’s entry to automated, high-speed sortation in the region, and a complete product offering for its customers.
